August Book Haul

I kind of went crazy this month. I went an checked out Amazon's free Kindle books and bought a ton of those. My Kindle does not currently work, but I do have the Kindle app on my phone so I will be using that to read all of the books that I got. I got 32 free eBooks, 2 books at Barnes and Nobles, and 2 book samplers. Let's get started! Since there are A LOT of books in this haul, for most of them, I am just going to tell the title, author, and leave a link to the Good Reads page if you would like to see what it is about.

First up, the reason I started looking at the free Kindle books: Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I have been wanting to read this book forever! When I saw in a discussion thread in Good Reads that Obsidian was free, I couldn't resist. Obsidian is also the Little Book Club book for September.

In Between by Jenny B. Jones. I could resist because Jenny B. Jones is way to close to Junie B. Jones (a.k.a. the best children's books ever).

The Faerie Guardian by Rachel Morgan. I have never read a faerie book before, so I thought this might be a good start.

Children of After: Awakening by Jeremy Laszlo.

UnEnchanted by Chanda Hahn. I am very excited about this one. It's kind of a fairy tale retelling

Mindspeak by Heather Sunseri. This one sounds very interesting and I can't wait!

From the Wreckage by Michele G. Miller. This book sounds like a more serious contemporary which I haven't read that much of.

The Grimm Diaries Prequel Collection by Cameron Jace. I have not read the Grimm Diaries series and I do not own them either, but they sound good, so I decided to get the prequels while they were free.

The Game by Terry Schott. I think this book has a Ready Player One thing going on, though I am not sure.

Captured by Erica Stevens. I am so excited about this one. It is about a girl you gets kidnapped by the ruling vampire race because she is important to the rebellion. She is then sold as a blood slave to the royal vampire family and the prince claims her. Romance and chaos ensue and it just sounds so awesome. It's a dystopian with vampires, royalty, a rebellion, romance, and tons of other crazy stuff! I also love the cover. I might buy a physical copy just because the cover is amazing.

Apocalypse by Kyle West. It's called Apocalypse, which I love. In all honesty, our world is more ready for an apocalypse than a blackout.

Wanted: Dead or Undead by Angela Scott. It sounds like a zombie book, which I love.

Contamination Book Zero by T.W. Piperbrook. I'm pretty sure this is a zombie book, too.

Nightblade: Episode One by Garrett Robinson. This is a book about a thief that goes on a journey with a wizard, which just sounds like a good time to me. And I'm pretty sure the author is part of the group of Good Reads YA Book Gang, which I am also in and I think that is pretty cool.

GAMELAND Episodes One and Two by Saul Tanpepper. I think these are zombie books, too. Seems like kind of a theme here.

Celestra Series Book 1-2 by Addison Moore. The first book is Ethereal and the second one is Tremble. I am pretty sure these books are about people who can read minds.

Up the Tower by J.P. Lantern. I think I have seen this book somewhere before and wanted to get it, but didn't. Now I have it for free and I am super excited for it. It's post apocalyptic I believe.

The Rain Part One by Joseph Turkot. This one is post apocalyptic, too. Again, I'm sensing another theme.

Blood and Justice by Rayven T. Hill. This one is mystery and I haven't read a lot of books in that genre.

Adventures In Funeral Crashing by Milda Harris. I literally laughed out loud when I read the title of this books. It sounds like a fun, hilarious mystery and I can't stop smiling thinking about it because the title is so ridiculous.

Venture Untamed by R.H. Russell. This book has gladiator type stuff going on and sounded super interesting.

The Iron Butterfly by Chanda Hahn. I hauled another book by this author this month, so I hope I like her writing style. I also really love this cover, it's just kind of rustic and beautiful.

Planet Urth by Jennifer Martucci. This one sounds like a post apocalyptic survival story. Kind of following the theme.

Malice in Wonderland #1: Alice the Assassin by Lotus Rose. This one is about Alice who is still in Wonderland and has lost her soul and is taking revenge on some people who caused the bad things that happened to her in Wonderland. I'm not a big fan of the cover and I cried watching the Disney movie when I was little because I was so terrified, but the premise sounds interesting.

Warchild: Pawn by Ernie Lindsey. I don't really know what this book is about, but it had really good ratings on Good Reads.

I got two free previews for books this month and the first one it The Young World by Chris Weitz. This book sounded really interesting to me when I saw it in the store, so when I say a free preview, I thought I should get that and see how I feel about it.

The second sampler I got was Poison Princess by Kresley Cole. I really want to read this book because it sounds so good and weird. I thought I should get the sampler because I have heard that it's hard to get into.

My brother also got me two books at Barnes and Noble this month. The first book that I got is Horde by Ann Aguirre. I have been waiting to read this book since it came out last year because I have really enjoyed the other two books. It is not the best writing ever or the best piece of literature, but I do really like the story. And Fade.

I'm sure you all will be very excited for the next book, because I am. I FINALLY got Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas! I am so excited for this book and am so glad I have it! Thank you, brother!

That's it. I did get most of these books for free which is awesome. Because I payed my brother back for the books he got me, I ended up only spending $21.04 on this haul which I say is a success because I spent that money on books I have been waiting to read forever. If you have read any of these books, please tell me whether you liked them or not in the comments and if you would like to read any of them, you can leave that in the comments to!
