OH MY GOSH!!! Before we talk about that ending, I am going to talk about the various other things.
Finally, we get to see Celaena's assassin skills since the very first page. I love her awesome fighting skills, especially when she goes to rescue Chaol from Archer and his buddies, which was possibly my favorite scene from the book. Speaking of Chaol, I loved him so much in this book. Yeah, I know I just wasn't too into him during Throne of Glass, but my opinion has changed so much because we got to see more of him in Celaena's perspective and we got to see more of Chaol's perspective as well. I just really admire his character, except I wish he would finally see that the king isn't a man worth being loyal to. I still really like Dorian, but I was so frustrated with him in the beginning of the book because he was mad about Celaena not liking him or whatever. GET OVER IT! It's just a girl, you'll be fine and it's not worth him ruining his friendship with Chaol over just because Celaena likes him more. It was annoying.
Let's talk about something else that frustrated me. Celaena completely pushing Chaol away after Nehemia died. I can understand that she thinks that if Chaol had told her about the threat to Nehemia's life, then Nehemia would still be alive, but that is just not true. It's not. Sure, Celaena could have kept a better eye on Nehemia, but that would not have stopped Grave from killing Nehemia. Chaol did all he could do to keep Nehemia safe, he posted extra guards. Chaol could not have watched those guards 24/7, the only thing he can do is discipline them after the fact.
Speaking of Nehemia's death, that almost made me cry. It was so gruesome and sad, I literally almost cried. And Celaena's reaction, it was terrible. Not meaning it wasn't an unrealistic reaction, but because it was just sad (for lack of a better word), to watch happen. Celaena didn't feel like she had anyone that could be there for her because everyone had betrayed her. But, luckily, Celaena did get over it and started to trust a little bit again. AND THAT LAST BATTLE WAS EPIC! I loved it. And the twist with who Archer really was was awesome.
I didn't like that Celaena was sent to Wendlyn at the end. I want her with Chaol and Dorian. Also, the last conversation between Chaol and Celaena just stabbed me in the heart. THEY NEED TO BE TOGETHER! I loved the plot twist at the end where Celaena is actually Aelin Ashryver Galathynius and is the heir to the throne of Terrasen. I thought Celaena being Fae was enough, but nope, she has to be a princess too.
Please discuss with me in the comments below because I want to hear your thoughts. I need the next book right now. I WANT THE NEXT BOOK!!!
P.S. I hope we get to see more of Celaena's back story and that Sam isn't actually dead because that would cause some interesting problems, but if he really is, I need to read Assassin's Blade because I'm pretty sure he's in that one.
