I absolutely loved this book. The ending was a perfect conclusion to this series. I love how we meet Morrow and find that he is the one who wrote the story and it wasn't Deuce recording her adventures. I loved all of the characters we were introduced to and nearly cried when the characters died. There was one character I did cry over: Stalker. I know Stalker wasn't the best person and had done a lot of bad things, but he wasn't raised my normal parents. Stalker was raised to only know about the gang and how it works, not how to interact with people who wasn't part of that group. I felt so bad for him since he desperately loved Deuce and she just didn't like him back (don't get me wrong, I am Team Fade forever). I do think that the scene where Stalker died was rushed and so was Deuce's grieving. It just didn't feel like she really missed him that much. Sure Deuce sobbed when she visited his grave, but that was pretty much it besides missing how good of a scout he was. I do like the way Stalker died, sacrificing himself for Teagan, who he felt he owed a great debt to, but I don't think no one really grieved for him.
I really like Morrow. He reminded me a male version of myself; a storyteller who loved Harry Potter (seriously, it was referenced on page 158. There is no one who can tell me he wasn't talking about Harry Potter), loves to see the world, and loves books. Morrow does say my favorite quote from the book which will be at the bottom of this review.
Now, let's discuss the Uroch. I thought that was such a smart element to the story. A lot of times, authors make miracles happen where the good guys and able to defeat their enemies. The idea of Freaks like the Uroch had been developing towards the end of Outpost and throughout Horde. I love how we get to see at the end that the Freaks have developed and become just like us, maybe even smarter, except for appearance. I do think that the majority of Company D did accept the Uroch too quickly because in the situation, I would have doubted the idea for a lot longer than the two days Deuce gave them. I loved Szarok, too! He reminded me of Cochise from Falling Skies in the way he acts.
There were some little things that I didn't care too much for, like I wanted more cute moments between Deuce and Fade. I understand they are in the middle of a war, but when they were in the woods, Deuce complained about not having alone time with him, so I expected that when they were staying in towns, they would be together, but that didn't happen a lot of the time. Sometimes I didn't like the writing style because it seemed very formal and not how people would speak, but I dealt with it and the action, romance, and occasional humor outweighed that.
I want to know how you felt and your favorite book in the Razorland Saga is (which I loved the explanation of in the book). I personally cannot pick a favorite because I think that they are equally awesome. I start to pick a favorite in my head and then I change it and end up getting frustrated because I can't pick.
