Aliens are trying to wipe out the human race in a series of waves. During the First Wave, everything electronic (i.e. cars, planes, lights, cell phones, etc.), died. The Second Wave took out the coasts with a series of tsunamis and hurricanes. The Third Wave was an illness with an estimated kill rate of 97%. The Fourth Wave is Silencers, aliens hiding out, waiting for one of the humans unlucky enough to survive to walk by, so that they can "silence" them. The Fifth Wave? You'll have to read to find out. The main character of this book is Cassie, a wonderfully sarcastic teenage girl. Cassie lost everything when the aliens attacked, but she is not about to lose the one thing she has left, her little brother, Sammy, especially after she promised she was right behind him. Because of this promise, Cassie sets out on the journey to find her little brother and will do so no matter what it takes, even if that means trusting the stranger that saved her.

I loved this book. I loved the sarcasm that each of the characters had and the mystery about the Fifth Wave. The writing style is not the most beautiful or poetic in the world, but it's easy to read and hilarious. This book can take you on a roller coaster of emotions. Trust me, though, it's a wonderful roller coaster. Now, before I go on to the spoiler-y section of this review, I will rate it with stars!

Star Rating: 4.85 (Kind of a weird rating, I know)
