The Hunger Games Trilogy Review

For the Hunger Games, I loved the survival aspect. The difficulties of being thrown into the woods with basically nothing is fascinating to me. The survival theme is more prevalent in the first book than in the other two. I also love how Katniss comes up with all of these plans and in the other two books it is really just a big plan.
Catching Fire was my favorite book in the trilogy because it shows more of District 12 and how bad things really are with the Capital. I also loved how we have the other Victors. I just found them so interesting because we got to see how the Games changed them in the long run and the affect the Capital has had on them as well. Also, Finnick.
Mockingjay, on the other hand, was my least favorite. I'm not really sure why, but I just didn't like the atmosphere of District 13. I was so slow getting through the parts where they were in District 13 and then as soon as they were not there, I flew through it. I did love the people of 13, though. Except for Coin. I always hated Coin.
Now, let us talk about the characters. And how can we talk about the characters without talking about Katniss. To me Katniss could be slightly annoying at times because of how stubborn she is. It's okay to be a little stubborn, but not to the extent of off going off somewhere you probably won't survive just because of the possibility of saving someone else. Why can't one of you live Katniss? Katniss, think! The Capital citizens won't let Peeta die because of his leg! And if he did die, wouldn't it be better that one of you live instead of you both being dead? With that said, Katniss is very selfless. She only killed four tributes (I believe) in her first Hunger Games: two Careers with the tracker-jackers so that she can live to get back home, Marvel because he killed Rue (*tear), and Cato so that she and Peeta can win the Games. In Katniss's second Hunger Games, she only killed to protect Peeta and then herself because Peeta asked her to. Katniss was very selfish in Mockingjay, though with the whole going off on a mission she created just so she can get revenge.
Of course we have to talk about Peeta. Team Peeta all day everyday. Peeta was just so sweet and wasn't made to kill and did not belong in the Hunger Games. That is why he needed someone like Katniss because she could protect him. When they brought back Peeta and he was hijacked, I wanted to cry for the rest of my life, but I didn't because I knew Peeta would pull himself out of it because he is in love with Katniss and he couldn't have forget that. Peeta always knew the right thing to say to get Katniss to stop being so dang stubborn and get the job done. Peeta is just wonderful. Come on, did Gale really have a chance?
Speaking of Gale, let's talk about him next. I do not totally despise Gale like a lot of the fan girls, but I did want to scream at him most of the time. Gale, just stop! SHE DOESN'T WANT YOU! To be completely honest, I think Gale would have benefited the story better as Katniss's brother. Katniss would have still had a reason to be emotional and worried about him and it would have gotten rid of the terribly constructed love triangle (it wasn't really a love triangle, more like a line and then a dot all the way over in the corner crying).
And we cannot forget about Prim. Her death was not that sad for me, actually BECAUSE ONE OF MY FRIENDS SPOILED IT FOR ME. (Thank you, Blaire.) And Finnick. At first I completely missed Finnick dying the first time I read Mockingjay, which I kind of feels bad about, but it made me feel happier instead of drowning in tears. When I read the third book I was in complete shock and I couldn't continue reading for ten minutes. Finnick's relationship with Annie was so cute and the real him was just awesome and he wasn't the snob the Capital made him out to be.
So, there you have it, a very long review for the Hunger Games trilogy. I know that I didn't go that deep into it because I haven't read these books in quite some time, but I am planning on during a book versus movie when Mockingjay Part Two comes out. Have you seen the teaser trailers? My goodness, I can't even. Please let me know that you share my feels in the comments and now I leave you with a quote:

"You don't forget the face of the person who was your last hope."
